Didja Notice?
On pages 13-16, the trussed up Boss Moon seems to keep
changing location in the bed of the prairie skimmer.
On page 14, Boss Moon tells Mal that he and his mother could
have been living in the New Freedom colony on Beaumonde now
if they hadn't been breaking the law during the Unification
War. Beaumonde appears later in
"Triggered". This is the first mention of the New
Freedom colony.
When the
Pilgrims of Moriah arrive at the Sacred Spires, they begin
singing a religious hymn. The lyrics are from "Shall We
Gather at the River?" (originally titled "Hanson Place") by
American gospel music composer and poet Robert Lowry
(1826–1899) in 1864.
On page 18, Inara tells the
Pilgrims of Moriah she is Buddhist. This is also implied by
her kneeling and lighting incense in front of a Buddha
statue in "A Better World".
