Everyone is searching for Serenity...and someone finds it.

Didja Notice?

On page 2, Jayne is eating an apple. Perhaps he's particularly fond of apples; recall that he bought a crate of real apples which he shared with the Serenity crew in "War Stories".

On page 3, Jayne's t-shirt has Japanese characters on it spelling Gojira (Godzilla). It looks just like the t-shirt he wore in "Leaves on the Wind" Part 1 except Gojira is printed on the right side of the shirt instead of the left as before. Maybe Jayne has two Gojira shirts? Also notice that earlier, on page 2, the word is not on the shirt at all!

Also on page 3, Jayne refers to Bea's pistol as a Strickland 4412.

Arriving at the medical ship, Simon tells the doctor on duty that Zoe is suffering from an obstetrical hemorrhage. This is heavy bleeding usually related to pregnancy and can be external or internal. Recall that Simon told Mal after Emma's birth in "Leaves on the Wind" Part 1 that Zoe was bleeding internally.

After being forced to flee Alliance forces and leave Zoe behind at the medical ship, Serenity hides out in the Goodrow Baron dumping grounds, a spaceship graveyard in space. If you look closely at the derelict ships, you might spot an Eagle transporter from Space: 1999, a TIE Fighter from Star Wars, the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek-The Original Series, and possibly the wing of a B-Wing Fighter from Star Wars. A few other pieces of debris are also seen. Are they from a known sci-fi property? Write me if you know what they are!

On pages 11-12, River suggests that Simon put her into a drug-induced coma so she can explore the secrets the Alliance has hidden inside her head. Among the suggested drugs are propofol and sodium thiopental. These are real world anesthetic drugs which can be used to induce coma.

Chinese translations
(Thanks to the Firefly-Serenity Chinese Pinyinary for the translations)
Most of the Chinese and Japanese characters seen throughout this mini-series were copied from a Japanese Godzilla book by artist Georges Jeanty, who admits he was simply looking for symbols that looked cool, making most of them nonsensical in context. For this reason, I am not posting most of the translations here. Please visit Firefly-Serenity Chinese Pinyinary for those translations and the Jeanty story. The translations I have included are ones that seem to make at least some sense with the context/characters.
